Golnessa Farmanara is an established Designer in LA, California. She was born in Iran where her design roots were developed through her creative family that flourishes in Architecture, Music, Film and all mediums of Art. Her parents moved the family from Iran to California at the age of 11. She was fortunate to have a father that owned a fabric business downtown LA, growing up. It’s no surprise she chose her education in Fashion Design. Achieving a Bachelor of Science and Arts Degree in 2004 at a private school in Burbank, CA. Woodbury University, an accredited Architecture and Business school. There she honed her basic building blocks of skills she would use in her professional career down the road which lead her to start her own Design brand Goci alongside her designer best friend from 2005-2011. Becoming detail oriented and having profound knowledge in design, styling, sketching, fitting and business strategy of having her own label. Her first collection was featured at the 2004 Woodbury University Fashion Gala Show and from there several fashion shows followed from 2005-2009. Avenues like Fashion for a Cure & Susanne G. Komen cure for Cancer, both at Fashion Week, Collections at the House of Blues on Sunset and Bernard Gallery on Rodeo Dr. She has been featured in Interior Design & Apparel News for her designs. Allowing her to be able to be a judge at Woodbury University and FIDM fashion shows. If this wasn’t enough for her, she decided to take a big leap and apply for the Advanced Fashion Design Master in POLIMODA Florence, Italy. Her biggest accomplishment to date was being selected to be on the BRAVO, The Fashion Show, Ultimate Collection Season 2. An amazing experience of not only being in the fashion industry pressure cooker, but now under the microscope of the camera. All these highlights and accomplishments have given Golnessa the most rounded career a Designer could ever ask for. Through all of these experiences, she has retained a full time job designing for brands like Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters, Forever 21, Nordstrom, BEBE, The Limited, Karen Kane, Boston Proper etc. from 2005-present ranging in Jr. Contemporary and Missy Contemporary focus. Currently she is the Senior Designer at Fortune Swimwear/Coast Style Group. She travels all over Europe and Asia for inspirations and travels domestically to work directly with brand labels and designing for their needs. She is always looking for the new it thing to get inspired by and one can only imagine what the next decade holds for Designer Golnessa Farmanara.
